  • We have now gotten interviews from high school students and adults. These interviews were, as we expected, much different than the 8th and 5th graders though. Their thoughts were much more intellectual and interesting with a lot more passion in them - especially when they talked about activism. This probably was because they have simply had more experience with it and have been to places with activism. So far each of us (Rishita myself and Lena) has gotten good with the basics of Premier, the video app we are going to put our documentary on, and are excited to finalize our interviewee's videos and piece it with new information we are going to find this week. We are going to find/ have been searching for/ video pieces of protests (old and new) that deal with feminism and our past presidents. We also want to include speeches from our generation and older generations to show the differences and compare them with the generation gaps from our interviews. Something that has surprised me the most so far is how different it is to work with friends on a project than with peers with who you are not as close with. It is much more understanding to work with people you already know and it is exciting to see them in the “school” presence as I have never had any classes with them before. Additionally, I have learned a lot about how legality works for documentaries. It was interesting to me to see how we had to create our media forms for minors to have their parents sign. We had some troubles with a parent as part of it was not clear enough so we changed and edited it then re-sent it out to parents to sign (hoping it would be more clear). Lastly, I am excited to really start to piece together the film as we have finalized our interviews and are working towards the bigger picture and layout now.

  1. It sounds like you've had a productive first week! I think it's awesome that you get to work with your friends collaboratively on a project that you all care about. That makes me happy to read. It seems like you've really jumped into a lot of new waters and you're learning a lot! Keep up the great work!
