blog #4
Throughout this week we have started to gather our information and film and piece it together slowly into a working final documentary. We each downloaded Premier and are good with the skills that it takes to use it. We additionally have started to use “envato elements” which is basically a film platform with stock videos that we can use without copyright. We can do this because everything on it is public domain. We are in the works of our outline on the documentary and have figured out what voiceovers/ music type we want to put over our script that we have written out as well. We are still in the works of getting every minor media release form from their parents to agree to let their kids interview in the video. This has proven to be one of the most challenging aspects of our project so far. However, even if we are not able to gather all of the release forms we still have a broad array to choose from students' parents who have signed and already turned back to us.
We had a meeting with our mentors this week as well and they talked a lot to us about copyright usage with sources other than envato and the struggles it would present. We also met with Ms. Brennan and she checked in on our progress and future plans for finalizing the film. We have another meeting set up with The Cleveland Film Factory and our mentors for Tuesday and we hope to get more advice on how to properly piece our information together and make it look the most professional.
Something that has surprised me throughout the past few days has been the process of copyright and the seriousness of release forms and usage of minors in film/ their parents' consent. We have not gotten a lot of release forms back and it is surprising to me how slow the process is going as we would like to start to fully edit down our interviews as soon as we can.

This is really interesting with the consent forms and how it has slowed down your process! I'm glad to read that you are doing well with Premier. Keep up the great work! And thank you for the video of Tanner :)
